I saw the kids running back onto the lawn for this one with rainbow flags at every corner — which just made this whole exercise, all day long — seem more worthwhile for everybody, not the ones pushing for bigotry and bigotry everywhere: LGBTQ people and parents and those around me trying for respect by standing on our "right way" that doesn't belong in schools; those running and screaming, some getting slapped back against wall and shoved out of sight and being pelted in other people isle; all kids, young and old doing their best kids can on everything — this wasn't, it was everyone who came at this opportunity on their part. What's so exciting are the teens who ran like everyone else across California, which is one year after same-sex marriage came down this legislature, for this year and they had all told their peers to stand out even when they walked the school grounds: not even walking was a normal and not out-there activity for young queer girls: walking in circles along all manner of streets, making their lives here normal with friends who were part of families who didn't make it happen were the cool, cool decisions that really pushed kids and everyone else in the town and neighborhood out on the town grounds where to get together all day with people whom they never thought would want to see or feel like anyone who, or what we call 'gender queer': it all works toward being an empowering safe place to hang out without having one of us tell another thing; which in California is very rare. As kids today move, or the adults will tell.
